Shopping for Men’s Toys? Start Here 😉

If you’ve ever wandered into the men’s toy section and thought, “Okay… where the heck do I even start?” — you are definitely not alone.
There are strokers, sleeves, vibrating options, warming options, textured options, app-controlled options…
And suddenly choosing a bedroom accessory feels like you need to study for an exam. 😂
But here's the thing:
There isn't one “perfect” men's toy.
The best place to start is with curiosity.
Why Strokers Make a Great First Choice
Strokers and sleeves are popular because they’re relatively simple, approachable, and available in a huge variety of sensations.
They can be used for solo exploration or incorporated into partnered intimacy, making them a versatile addition to your bedroom collection.
And because there are so many styles available, you can choose based on what sounds interesting to you rather than trying to find some mythical “best” toy.
So, what should you look for?
Start simple.
If this is your first experience with a stroker, a manual option can be a great introduction.
You control the pace, pressure, and rhythm, which gives you an opportunity to learn what sensations you enjoy before moving into more feature-heavy options.
Once you know what you like, you can always level up.
Think about texture.
Some people prefer a smoother internal texture, while others enjoy more pronounced ridges, bumps, or varied sensations. Looking for a single use multi pack to start out? Try our Tenga Egg 6 pk!
Neither is better.
They're simply different.
And that's the whole point of exploring.
Consider the features.
Once you know what you're looking for, you can decide whether features like vibration, warming, suction, or automatic movement sound appealing.
You don't need every feature available.
Sometimes simple is exactly what you want.
And Please… Don't Forget the Lube. 😉
This is one of my biggest beginner tips:
Use a quality lubricant.
Lubricant helps reduce friction and improves glide, which can make a stroker much more comfortable and enjoyable.
Skipping the lube can turn a potentially great experience into something that feels more like a battle with a very determined rubber band.
Nobody needs that. 😂
Just remember to check the manufacturer's recommendations for lubricant compatibility, particularly when you're using toys made from different materials. But just know you can never go wrong with a good water based option. Side note: Creams listed as Stroker Creams are usually not compatible to use with actual strokers- they are only for hand stimulation. Give Jo Stroker Lube with easy tip for application a try.
There Is No “Wrong” Choice
I think men put way too much pressure on themselves to know exactly what they like before they have ever had the opportunity to explore.
But that's not how pleasure works.
You try something.
You learn something.
You decide what you like—and what you don't.
Then you use that information to make your next choice.
That's called exploration.
And honestly? That's the fun part.
So if you're shopping for your first men's toy, don't worry about finding the perfect one.
Start with something that sparks your curiosity.
You can always explore from there.
